getting a trend for less is such a score. i bought the much coveted cambridge neon pink satchel a few months back (it’s sold out most places right now but it’s always being restocked). this cheaper version is a pretty good dupe… and it’s 1/3 the price!

oh, and by the way, i’ve received some great submissions from my readers for the spring fashion feature – if you haven’t sent yours in yet, get it in today and i’ll put it up on the site! details here!
are you building your spring wardrobe and want to show off your favourite look? your style could be featured in a showcase of the best personal style from ladies of all shapes and sizes in the looks that make them feel their best. it’s a great opportunity to not only show off your style, but your fashion and lifestyle blog!
here’s how it works:
send in two photos of your look to email@example.com along with the outfit details including where you found each item, your name, age and blog (if you have one); i’ll pick 6-8 submissions to feature in an upcoming blog post.
please submit your looks by may 15th, 2012.
can’t wait to see what you are all rocking this spring! x
mother’s day is all about spoiling your favourite person – mom! don’t buy her something useful, it’s all about getting her that luxurious item mom wouldn’t spoil herself with – a case of her fave wine, a nespresso machine (total splurge!), a magazine subscription or cozy cashmere blanket. it’s not complete without a mushy card that shows how much you appreciate her – that’s always my mom’s favourite part of any gift and i know it’s a winner if it makes her cry. take your mom out for a day of her favourite things: a stop at a coffee shop for a magazine catch up, a matinee movie (with popcorn, of course!) and a nice lunch or dinner at a spot she favours? ideal day spending quality time i’d say!
i’m lucky to have my mom here for mothers’ day and will be hosting a fancy brunch for the special day at my place for both our families. any menu ideas are welcome!

the cat eye is one of those shapes that returns over and over and therefore, you can’t go wrong investing in a great pair for summer. i own this gorge pair (in tortoise) and even have a pair of eye glasses in the cat eye shape. they’re flattering on amost anyone and emphasize your cheekbones (yay!). which pair is your fave?
find a few that i’m loving in the links below at ALL price points.

it’s wedding season! this little ‘what to wear’ spring wedding feature includes a great floral print, and a neon belt to wrap around the mint or cream dress (YES, you can wear white to a wedding!).
i am a firm believer that you shouldn’t need to purchase a new outfit for a wedding… unless you’re the bride of course! build the look around an item most of us have in our closet: a summer dress. pair it with some neutral accessories and of course don’t forget a little wrap for the evening chill (this one comes in a few different colours); even more importantly, don’t forget to stash a pair of flats in the car for late night dancing! … seriously, nothing kills the night faster than sore feet.

while these pairs of jeans may look slightly different – you can chalk that up to styling. amazing what a pair of heels can do! instead of dropping almost $200 on a pair of jeans, switch them out for the budget version and save up for a lux bag instead…

bobbi brown recently rolled out their spring makeup line which is a delightful mix of neons and nudes. grabbing a fresh lipgloss or eyeshadow to add to your makeup collection is a great way to freshen up your look – it’s is a makeup trend that will bring you into spring and summer with pizazz.
neon delight: while these neon’s would look a bit loud together, separately, they add a pop!
going nude: the nude eyeshadow palette is a definite must have for a makeup kit. the bronzes, browns and taupes will work well on almost all of us and you may find yourself reaching for it daily!

if you look into my closet, you’ll find a tonne of black basics along with splashes of leopard and brights. i love starting off with an all black outfit and then topping it with a few statement pieces. a neutral shoe just seemed to be just the right tone to balance the look. with a hefty collection of purses, i’ll need to switch up my bag moving into spring and summer, but i’m just too fond of a lux carryall to give it a rest just yet!
a closer look at the statement necklace, which hangs nicely mid-chest or sits right on your décolletage depending on how you wear it:

i saw these preppy, chic wedges at old navy a few weeks ago and i absolutely adore them. the wedge is modest, and they’re perfect for spring and summer – i plan on wearing them with white jeans and for summer weddings. they feel very ‘gwyneth paltrow’ in the hamptons to me. good news – they’re on sale at old navy for a BARGAIN: $28.50 if you’re in the US and $22 in Canada!
BONUS: use promo code JMX31CC1RYB9 for an extra 20% off ALL online old navy purchases until april 21st! serious score, ladies.
